Muscle Test for Posterior Neck Extensor Group

(Semispinalis Capitis, Semispinalis Cervicis, Splenius Capitis, Splenius Cervicis)

Individual Position: The individual is lying prone with their arms at their side; their head should be elevated slightly and rotated to the side being assessed.

Practitioner Position: The practitioner is standing towards the head of the individual, placing their hand on the side of the head to be assessed.

Description of Muscle Test: The individual attempts to extend their head while maintaining head rotation.
